Dad at the MVA picnic

Sam Anthony did not like his retirement. He retired from working at the Federal Government after 20? 25? years....well a long, long time. He tried to enjoy the retired mans life but at least gave in and went back to work. He found work at a MD state job with the MVA doing architecture on the new facilities they were building. He enjoyed this and would tell me stories of his boss and his lunch hours when someone would run out for fast food and deliver it to his desk and he was happy to be useful again.

I was sent via email some photos of him at the department picnic that is thrown each year.

At the pond

My dad and his wife Betty have a great place out in the country with beautiful park like atmosphere. They have set up an area for cook outs and parties that make the summer mucho fun. There is a pond, a grilling area, horseshoes and a field for baseball.

I think they are in NJ. Maybe Asbury Park, but apparently the Beach was the place to be.

Growing up

This post is dedicated to my niece Abigail who wanted to see some pics of her as a youngster. I don't think they get younger than this pic. Abbie is just a few hours old.

Here she is with mom, aunt and poppop. She is the cute blonde at our knees.

Same day, without Mom to notice, she tackled balancing on the porch railing.
And here Abbie is with Tom Cruis...no wait its Anthony michael Hall...Nope, its Uncle Pete.

And several years later - on the left is Abbie, poppop and her sister. Abbie is in college now. What a trip it has been watching her grow up!
